Harmonica Care And Maintenance
HARMONICA CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Eventhough most harmonica have good manufacturing, proper maintenance and preventive measures are still needed. If you do take good care of them, they will not break, jam, or wear out easily (Das ist sehr wichtig). Aside from the cost of repairs, you might have difficulty finding someone skilled enough to repair your harmonica.
So, Here are a few tips for taking care of your harmonica:
Please try and follow the follow dos and don’ts when you`re playing harmonica
DO NOT
- Do not force the reeds when you are bending the note
- Do not throw your harmonica, just because you can`t bending the note or because someone you love dumped you for no apparent reason, and left you broken-hearted. just kidding(^u^). A short temper is a disadvantage when you playing your harmonica. (*-*)
- Do not let others play your harp. There are two reason for that, if someone play your harp recklessly they can broke your harp, and that would be a reckless waste of money and the other reason, you’re definitely kissing your harmonica every time you play it, unless it is someone you don’t mind kissing (^3^)/~
_ Do not play your harmonica when you`re at the beach, cause the salty air can cause the reeds to rust rapidly.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning material on your harmonica and never submerge your harmonica in any liquid.
DO
- Avoid excessive temperature, keep your harmonica at a constant temperature. It is advisable ( particularly in a cold weather ) to warm up your harmonica.
- Avoid dust and other particles. Dust will interfere the movement of the reeds, making it sound wierd.
- Avoid excess moisture. Most of moisture actually come from your mouth ( like japanese proverb says “Kuchi wa wazawai no moto” the mouth is the cause of calamity ) (^_^)
- Clean the mouthpiece and cover routinely. Do regular maintenance on your harps.
- Get in the habit of carrying your harp with you AT ALL TIMES – you never know when it could come in handy, but keep your harmonica in a case and not stark naked.

*. Do not drink a stiff drink ( very strong alcohol ) before playing harmonica if you wont stinking the whole harmonica out.(c-c)
AFTER PLAYING
*. Tap your harmonica out gently after playing, tapping out the excess saliva or moisture and gently wipe out the outer surfaces clean with a cloth.
*. Store your harmonica in the box, case, or in some other clean place. A hard case would be good to protect your harmonica from dust and minor impact.
